JC Melrose Country Club

Originally founded in 1916 as the Curtis Country Club, this Cheltenham property gained its golf course in the late 1920s when Golden Age master Perry Maxwell - designer of Prairie Dunes and Southern Hills - was commissioned to lay out the grounds, with Alister MacKenzie consulting on the plans. The par-70 layout features Maxwell's signature small, undulating greens, plunging hills, and rolling fairways bisected by Tookany Creek, making it one of the only surviving Philadelphia-area courses bearing the design influence of either architect. Renamed Melrose Country Club in 1947, the course closed in December 2024 after nearly a century of play.
